Dear Faculty,

This message is being sent to you using a new Listserv called COREFACTS
that is intended for faculty only. It will be used to alert you to issues related
to the operation and management of university shared and core facilities. If
you do not wish to receive such messages, then there is a link at the bottom
of this message for unsubscribing from the Listserv.

As an example of the utility of this Listserv, I would like to annouce the
creation of two new core facilities on the Chicago campus: the Human
Embryonic Stem Cell Facility, and the Skin Disease Research Center. Both
facilities specialize in the training and culturing of certain types of cells for
research purposes.

For more information about the Stem Cell Facility, please contact Ljuba Lyass
at 3-1039 or [log in to unmask]

For more information about the Skin Cell Facility, please contact Betsy
Cutcher at 5-4133 or [log in to unmask]

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that there is a weblink to all
shared and core facilities on the Office for Research's website:
http://www.research.northwestern.edu/facilities

Besides links to individual facility webpages, this website contains information
about the many programs and policies related to shared and core facilities. It
also contains a Search window for quickly finding equipment, services, and
products available in the facilities. Please give it a try and, if useful, add it as
a bookmark in your brouser.

As always, suggestions for improving facilities and communication are welcome.

Phil Hockberger
Director of Core Facilities
Office for Research
