The Biostatistics Collaboration Center (BCC) is a Feinberg School of Medicine
(FSM) resource initiated in 2004 to provide research design and statistical
support to FSM investigators. The BCC includes a group of experienced
faculty and staff who will work with investigators in all aspects of their
research projects, from concept and study design to data acquisition, data
analysis and final scientific reporting. Faculty include Leah Welty, Kwang-
Youn Kim, Julia Lee, Mary Kwasny, Borko Jovanovic, Joan Chmiel and Alfred
Rademaker. Staff include Nancy Jin, Jie Peng, Thongsy Singvongsa and Sarah
Weitner.

The primary goal of the BCC is to collaborate and consult with FSM
researchers in order to produce studies and statistical analyses that ultimately
result in funded grants, peer-reviewed publications and presentations at
professional meetings. Typically the best results come from researchers and
statisticians working hand-in-hand as collaborators in these activities.

The BCC is eager to work with you to provide the needed support and services
under a cost arrangement that is mutually acceptable. Requests for services
by the BCC may be made through the BCC website
(<http://www.feinberg.northwestern.edu/depts/bcc/requestForm.htm>http://
www.feinberg.northwestern.edu/depts/bcc/requestForm.htm) or by email to
the BCC (<mailto:[log in to unmask]>[log in to unmask]). BCC
statisticians have existing working agreements to provide services and
collaborations with major units such as the Northwestern University Clinical
and Translational Sciences Institute (NUCATS), the Robert H. Lurie
Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimerâ•˙s
Disease Center, the Multidisciplinary Clinical Research Center in Rheumatology
as well as individual Departments and Divisions. The BCC aims to expand its
collaborations and build new alliances with other groups at Northwestern.

The BCC is academically housed in the Department of Preventive Medicine
(DPM) and effective November 2009, it will be physically located with the DPM
on the 14th floor of 680 N. Lake Shore Drive along with the departmentâ•˙s
Program in Biostatistics and the Cancer Centerâ•˙s Biostatistics Core Facility.
Dr. Alfred Rademaker, Professor of Preventive Medicine, is the Director of the
BCC.

Join us for a series of statistical
<http://www.feinberg.northwestern.edu/depts/bcc/lecture2009.htm>seminars
given on Thursdays October 1 â•„ November 5 2009 from 12:30 â•„ 2:00 in
McGaw 2-320 (Daniel Hale Williams Auditorium). We hope these may serve to
reacquaint you with some statistical terminology as well as afford us an
opportunity to introduce ourselves to you.

As always, feel free to contact the Biostatistics Collaboration Center for your
statistical needs such as statistical analyses, grant writing, sample size
determination and manuscript preparation. The BCC looks forward to working
with you in the coming year.
