Dear Life Science Researchers,

The Mouse Histology and Phenotyping Lab (MHPL) together with the Pathology Core will be hosting a workshop titled "H&E Staining of Paraffin and Frozen Tissue Sections" on Wednesday, May 30, from 11:00 - Noon in Hughes Auditorium (Lurie building) on the Chicago campus.

H&E stain, or hematoxylin and eosin stain, is the most widely used general staining method in histology. It is essential for recognizing various tissue types, tissue structures and the morphologic changes that form the basis of medical diagnosis, veterinary diagnosis, histological phenotyping, and other research applications.

This presentation will give an overview of the differences between hematoxylin and eosin solution types and their uses. Basic H&E staining protocols and troubleshooting techniques will be provided. Hematoxylin counterstaining for immunohistochemistry will also be discussed.

Lunch and Refreshments will be provided for pre-registrants. Space is limited; reserve your seat by sending an RSVP e-mail to: [log in to unmask]
