Dear Dictyostelium Colleagues,

I am writing to inform you of the upcoming Gordon Research Conference on Directed Cell Migration, which will be held January 25-30, 2015 in Galveston, TX.

I would like to encourage colleagues working on cell migration to register for the Conference. The conference is the only meeting with specific focus on cell migration in the US and again this year it will provide an ideal and high visibility forum to discuss the latest research in the basic science of cell migration, with direct translational impact for disease and medicine.

The final program is now available on line (https://www.grc.org/programs.aspx?id=13365).

There will be ample opportunity for deserving young scientists to present their work. In addition to the invited speakers, approximately 15 short talks will be selected from abstract submissions. In addition, the 2015 edition of this GRC will continue to include 2 min “flash talks”, consisting of 3 slides, to highlight particularly exciting posters and steer discussion. Finally, and as we did in 2013, the GRC will be preceded by a GRS. The 1 1/2 day long GRS will focus on the merit of using a multidisciplinary approach in the study of cell migration. Andrew Ewald (JHU) and Xavier Trepat (Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia, Spain) – each of whom is a young and already highly successful scientist in the field - will be our keynote speakers for the GRS. In addition to the keynote addresses, presentations from selected participating graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and a Q/A session with young and senior scientists will complete the GRS program.

I also want to bring to your attention a GRC funding program called the Carl Storm Underrepresented Minority (CSURM) Fellowship. This program is available to support underrepresented minority participants from the US who are attending their first GRC. This fellowship program is wholly based on funding applications submitted directly by self-identified, eligible minorities who have applied to attend a GRC. Please see this link for additional information (http://www.grc.org/diversity.aspx).

I look forward to an exciting and highly rewarding meeting. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Best wishes,

Carole Parent
