Yes, we had this problem about four years ago - very disconcerting when you
study cell division.  The only comforting part was that the mutants were
more severely affected.  We ultimately decided it was the lot of proteose
peptone that we had at the time.  Currently, we have had good luck with the
media from Formedium, and I am not just saying that because Formedium is
sponsoring Dicty 2011!

Subject: [DICTY - 452] large AX3 cells

A question for the community.

As of late, our WT AX3 line contains a proportion of large cells, that were
not there in the past. They also appear when started from fresh stocks and
I'm not sure what is going on. Has anyone seen this before?
They're grown in HL5 on tissue culture dishes. It is strange as other
strains are not doing this. I've attached an example image.

Any advice would be appreciated.
