Dear Jon,

If memory serves me right, Wurster and Kurzenberger were able to monitor
light scattering oscillations in a beaker containing starved Dd cells in
suspension. Oxygen was bubbled into the suspension through a baffle.
Unfortunately I don't have the paper on hand right now to confirm this.
The reference is "Periodic cell aggregation in suspensions of
Dictyostelium discoideum", Differentiation 41(1): 1–4, 1989.

Regards,

Vidya
