Dear Jonathan,

I did some experiments a long time ago treating cells with 0.2 and
0.4 M sorbitol. They could deal with 0.2 M, i.e. they freeze, shrink
and round up, but after about 1h they regain shape and motility. With
0.4 M sorbitol they do not recover and lyse after 1 to 2 hours.

Best wishes,
Ludwig
