I believe this discussion is still going on and there is some evidence 
for an additional cell division and some for none.
We found by accident that some replication associated genes are 
upregulated at approx. 16hrs in development. At the same time Harry 
McWilliams established a whole catalogue of replication related genes 
that are more or less coordinately upregulated at that time. This is 
indirect evidence but strongly indicates that something is happening 
in development.
